For today’s video, I stopped by a small local salon here in Da Nang for a simple $5 makeup and hair session. I was already wearing my red áo dài, Vietnam’s traditional dress, and asked the stylist to complete the look with soft makeup, a braided hairstyle, and matching accessories. Everything was simple, gentle, and done with so much care. One of my favorite things about filming in local salons is that nothing is staged. As I was getting ready, you can hear makeup brushes, bags opening and closing, passing motorbikes, and even the cheers from people watching a World Cup match at the café next door. The stylist quietly hums to herself from time to time, making the whole experience feel even more personal and relaxing.
