Abigail: The woman who saved many

She loaded a donkey with bread and wine — and rode toward 400 armed men. This is the Abigail Bible story from 1 Samuel 25, and it may be the most overlooked story of courage, wisdom, and God's provision in all of Scripture. Abigail was a Proverbs 31 woman living in one of the hardest situations imaginable — married to a fool, surrounded by danger, with no power and no backup plan. And in the space of one afternoon, she stopped a massacre, saved her household, and changed the course of her own life. But there's something even deeper in this story. Something I didn't see until I sat with it for a long time. Abigail rode out bearing bread and wine — and placed herself between a righteous judge and a guilty household. Friends, that is a picture of Jesus. Hidden in the hills of ancient Israel, hundreds of years before Bethlehem.
