Steam in China 2007 Narrow Gauge Part 4 of 4 - Shibanxi
This is an extended version of video uploaded ten years ago. This 762mm narrow gauge line is operated by rugged and powerful C2 class 0-8-0 tender locomotives. The Shibanxi narrow gauge railway is still operated using steam motive power. Its continued existence is due to the fact that it is now a tourist railway having lost the coal traffic when Jiayang mine closed. The tourist operation is now well patronised by local tourists. At the time of my visit in 2007 the small drift mine was still operational and some mine activity can be seen in this video. At the time of my visit there was no road access to the mine, a road has now been built to this area. Music: Lau Tzu Ehru by Doug Maxwell downloaded from the YouTube Audio Library.
