KAMPUNG KRAJAN! KAMPUNG KEJAWEN IN BAGELEN VILLAGE, PURWOREJO This time, I had the opportunity to visit Kampung Krajan! The oldest Kejawen village in Java, and to get a closer look at life in Bagelen Village, Purworejo Regency, Central Java. In Kampung Krajan, there is the sacred burial place of Nyai Bagelen, and the community has adhered to the Kejawen faith since ancient times, passed down from their ancestors to the present day. Most people in this Kejawen village work as farmers to survive, and the atmosphere is very harmonious. Interestingly, although the residents of this Kejawen village are Muslim on their ID cards (Kejawen is not recognized by the government), the community still adheres to this Kejawen faith through worship practices such as burning incense and living side by side with followers of other religions. Who is the god of the Kejawen followers, and is Kejawen actually not Islam? What's even stranger is why all the residents of this Javanese village are forbidden from keeping cows...
