Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce details ankle surgery recovery, hopes for training camp return

A few months after signing a massive contract, Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce is focused on a much more immediate goal: getting healthy. Pierce is continuing to recover from ankle surgery that has kept him sidelined during the team's mandatory minicamp this week. The receiver was on the sideline Wednesday wearing a sleeve on his left ankle with a subtle limp as he works through the rehabilitation process. The injury is one that lingered throughout much of the 2025 season, despite Pierce posting the best year of his NFL career. Initially, Pierce hoped to avoid surgery. He underwent platelet-rich plasma treatment in January and spent six to eight weeks attempting a more conservative recovery plan. "I don't think it did as much as we wanted it to," Pierce said. "It didn't fix the problem, so that was kind of the first two months. Tried that first more as a Band-Aid type solution, shorter term I would say, but it didn't work out."
