First, find the tab in the middle of the formal ascot and place it firmly against the back of your neck. Two, you don't want both sides to be the same length, so pull the right side until it's 4 to 5 inches longer, which is about 10 to 12 and a half centimeters. Ideally, the formal ascot should be very wide on the left side and very thin on the right side. Now take the thin end from the right and fold it diagonally over the left side. With your left hand, take the folded part and return it to the original side, pulling it slightly. Now, again, bring the end you just brought to the right and fold it over once more to create what will be the knot. Now, with your left hand, take the end, go back, and push it from the back so it comes out the top. Pull a little so your knot tightens a little. Just like an American knot, you take the end now and push it through the hole you just created. Ideally, you'll want to lift and push the knot a little to create wrinkles so it doesn't look like a normal tie. You'll also notice it's much larger, and that's fine. Once you've done that, pull the long end to the back and adjust the knot until it sits firmly against your neck. As you can see, the front end is much shorter than the back and looks a little odd. However, you're only wearing a formal Ascot with a waistcoat. As a final step, simply tuck it into your waistcoat, and it looks great. Voila! The popular way to tie a formal ascot. If you're not wearing it at the end of the day, simply unravel the knot the opposite way you tied it. This means pulling it through the front first and untwisting it—very simple. Now, here's a second way to tie a formal ascot, and I consider it the most appropriate, most formal way. First, place the label in the middle of the formal ascot and place it firmly against your shirt collar. Pull the right side a little longer, about three to four inches or seven and a half to 10 centimeters. Now, fold the right side over the left side and then pull it through the hole you just created in the back. Now, the part you just pulled through should be in your right hand, and the other part should hang down. Now, take the part that's just hanging down with your left hand and point it to the right. Next, take the piece with your right hand and simply bring it to the front and fold it so it's now pointing down. Once you've done that, take the vertically hanging end and bring it up through the loop you just created from below. Once you've passed it through the hole, pull both ends of the formal ascot tight. You can adjust the knot a little, and you'll see that it creates a horizontal knot with some wrinkles. Ideally, you want to take the left piece and have it point to the right, and the right piece point to the left. Basically, the two ends cross each other. Now that you've folded both ends into an X shape, you can tuck them into your waistcoat. Keep adjusting until you like it. #bowtie #plastron #notsponsored ________________________________________________________________________________________ Stay up to date, register for free: https://gentl.mn/2Oy3koK Subscribe to our channel: / @gentlemansgazettees ________________________________________________________________________________________ Gentleman's Gazette: https://www.gentlemansgazette.com/ Fort Belvedere: https://gentl.mn/2SX1fB7 Facebook: / gentlemansgazette Free e-book: https://gentl.mn/2Oy3koK
