Should I jump rope in basketball shoes?

So if you go online, even though you can find shoes for every sport in the world, there are no shoes made specifically to support avid jump ropers. This forces us to use shoes that were designed for another sport. So...to decide whether to jump in running shoes, cross training shoes, volleyball shoes, etc...I asked myself which sport most closely mimics jumping rope. Because the sports of basketball and volleyball require their players to jump more often than most other sports, I decided to try out what it feels like to jump rope in a pair of Lebron 17 basketball shoes.
