The Rise of Nairobi and its Metropolitan Areas | Transport, Commerce and Diplomacy
Nairobi is Kenya's capital city in many aspects cutting through political administration, education, regional diplomacy, transport terminals, industrial hub and commercial center. This edition of the #RealAndUrban show reviews the growth of Nairobi from a railway town in the early 20th century to its current national and regional importance. Nairobi's growth journey is not unique from other cities globally and so is its expansion narrative beyond its central business district to suburbs within its larger metropolitan areas. The city's growth is majorly driven by rapid population growth which happens to be faster than the rate at which housing, transport, recreational and drainage infrastructure is developing.
