If you're interested in purchasing one, it'll help to know what you're getting, right? Hopefully this gives you a sense of the sounds the Seagull Merlin dulcimer can make. The Seagull Merlin M4 is in the dulcimer family of instruments, which means it's diatonically (only in one key) fretted. It's got a doubled top (high) string which gives it a bit of a "chorusing" effect that I love. It's similar to a mandolin or 12-string guitar in that way. The neck is wider than most instruments, causing the strings to be more spread apart. This could be a good thing for the young or new musician. It may require a very little hand recalibration for those more familiar with guitars or the pickin' stick / Strumstick variety of stick dulcimers, but it's no big deal. The wide body gives it a lower and larger sound than pickin's sticks have. ================ 🎵 Want to learn dulcimer guitar FAST? You’re in the right place!
