One of them was carried out in response to David being run over by a vehicle, with the affixing of a symbolic plastic arm to the central median, and ended up resulting in the first meeting of cyclists with a mayor in the city's history and, consequently, the first campaign in São Paulo for respect. to the cyclist broadcast on TV and in the decision to put into practice the plan of 400 km of bike paths. No wonder, cyclists celebrated the beginning of the works, in January 2015, with a fun “pajelança”, with champagne (or sparkling wine, as you wish), coarse salt and rue leaves. See in video. When an action by the Public Ministry suspended the implementation of bike paths in March of that year, a demonstration with more than 7,000 people filled the bicycle avenue and was echoed in dozens of cities in Brazil and the world, calling for continuity of the implementation of bike paths in the city. . The suspension was overturned in the second instance by the São Paulo Court of Justice (TJ-SP). The opening took place on June 28, 2015, on the first day of Paulista Aberta. With the presence of 50 thousand people (see video and photos), the inauguration has already shown the repressed demand, both for the bike path and for the space open to leisure and coexistence. There were even people from other cities and states, who realized that this was a historic moment in bicycle mobility in Brazil and felt part of this achievement.
