Politiets Aktionsstyrke | AKS | Danish Special Intervention Team

The Danish Special Intervention Unit (AKS) is the danish counter terrorism unit and premier tactical police unit of the Danish National Police. Its activities are under the jurisdiction of the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) while the Danish Ministry of Justice supervises the AKS. AKS often cross-trains with the Danish Special Operations Forces, international counterparts and civilian authorities. AKS handles extraordinary law enforcement tasks which are too difficult to handle for the regular local police force and terror-related objectives. The unit's capabilities includes; hostage situations, special observation assignments, protection in high-risk areas, active shooter incidents, manhunts and terror cases. AKS is part of the Danish National Anti-Terror Task Force and holds the responsibility as the premier tactical unit in terror cases but is able to be supported by the Danish Special Operations Forces logistically and operational if the police request about their assistance.
