Aeroacoustics Webinar: Low Frequency Noise from Wind
The talk will start with some generalities about Low Frequency Noise, evaluating its perception and impact in the context of wind energy. Thereafter, the LFN generating mechanisms are investigated in more detail, again focusing on the specificities of wind turbine application. The main predictive models from the scientific literature are reviewed. The issue of LFN experimental characterization and associated difficulties are also touched upon. About the speaker: Franck Bertagnolio has been working in the field of wind energy since 1997. His earlier focus has been Computational Fluid Dynamics for investigating the aeroelastic behavior of wind turbine blades. His scientific interest has moved toward the noise emission of wind turbines. His main research is directed toward the development of engineering models for wind turbine aerodynamic noise, the understanding of acoustic phenomena specific to wind turbine rotors, as well as acoustic measurements in the field.
