Jody Wayne - Last date

Jody Wayne was born in Bangalore, India to Canadian parents. He came to Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) after spending some time in England. In 1965 he moved to Durban, South Africa, where he formed the band "Little Jo & The Travelers". 18 months after their break-up Jody formed the "Jody Wayne Scene" which later became "Guys & Dolls". In the 70's Jody started producing and discovering artists like Barbara Ray, Gwynneth Ashley-Robin, Neil Herbert and The Stockley Sisters. In 1975 Jody played the lead role in "'Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and continued to tour South Africa, playing festivals and other shows. He is probably most famous for his recording of "The Wedding" which went to number 1 on the South African Top 20 in 1970. This song is off the album "By Special Request", released in 1989. It's a cover of an instrumental song written and first performed by Floyd Cramer in 1960, with a subsequent vocal version becoming a hit for Skeeter Davis in the same year.
