"The spatial planning of our destinations is chaotic. Many buildings do not comply with the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW) and the Regional Spatial Plan (RTDN). This includes the nickel mine in Raja Ampat and the glass elevator in Kelingking, which were never communicated to the regional government. The investors simply said, 'We got the OSS permit,'" said Deputy Chairperson of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Evita Nursanty, during a working meeting with the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism at the MPR/DPR/DPD RI Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (11/17/2025). Evita explained that during Commission VII's visit to Bali, Bali Governor Wayan Koster explained that the OSS system was operating without coordination with the regents and governors. This resulted in projects that did not comply with the spatial plan continuing. Evita emphasized that, although it was not the Minister's fault, the tourism spatial planning issue should be led directly by Widiyanti, as the Minister of Tourism's representative. "This is not the Minister's fault. But because it concerns tourism, you must be the leader in resolving it," Evita stated. In addition to Bali and Raja Ampat, this PDIP politician also highlighted spatial planning issues in North Kalimantan, Labuan Bajo, and Komodo Island, which he believes are increasingly overlapping tourism and industrial areas. He hopes the chaotic spatial planning in Indonesia can be resolved properly. "Let's go to North Kalimantan, yes, there are industries in tourism areas, this is indeed the case now in Labuan Bajo, on Komodo Island. We also know about the problem of spatial planning, which is granted permits. If we don't fix this now, our future tourism development will be even more chaotic and chaotic.
