Create Blue Alcohol Marker Blending Combinations for Realism (Applied Color Theory Ep. 7)
Join illustrator and art instructor, Amy Shulke from VanillaArts.com in a color theory exercise for blue B Copic Markers (or other brands of alcohol marker). Blue markers are extremely easy to blend, the ink is very forgiving but complementary underpainting for blue isn't as logical as with other colors There are some definite hurdles to overcome and blending tricks you'll need to know to shade B or even BV markers for realism. Amy shows you her applied color theory steps for picking, swatching, and testing B and BV marker blends to match the petals of Forget-Me-Not flowers using a photo reference. This process also works with colored pencil or watercolor. If you’ve ever been confused by the color wheel and not sure which blues are best for flowers, botanicals, or summer landscapes, this series of videos is perfect for you! This exercise is for marker selection-- this is not a coloring or blending tutorial. Color selection is a struggle for most colorers and it's not taught in classes which recommend specific marker supplies. Seeing a professional artist in action, picking colors and explaining why colors work/fail can be very helpful in developing your own artistry.
