This Isn't Just Anxiety | Issac Curry

You’ve been feeling off. Not yourself. Restless. Heavy. Maybe even overwhelmed and you can’t fully explain why. The easy answer is to label it stress, burnout, or anxiety. But what if that’s not the full story? In Luke 2:39–49, Mary and Joseph did everything right. They were faithful. Consistent. Disciplined. They showed up every year for Passover. This was their rhythm. But somewhere between the routine and the return home, they kept moving… and didn’t realize Jesus wasn’t with them. They didn’t lose Him in a moment. They lost awareness of Him while doing what they had always done. And it wasn’t until distance showed up that anxiety did too. That’s the tension. You don’t lose Jesus, you lose your awareness of Him. And the dangerous part is you can keep moving, keep doing the right things, keep showing up and not even notice He’s not where you assumed He was. In Luke 2, Mary and Joseph were faithful for 12 years. Same trip. Same rhythm. Same devotion. And one day they left Jerusalem and didn’t realize Jesus wasn’t with them. They didn’t feel it immediately. They didn’t notice it quickly. They kept moving like everything was normal. Until anxiety showed up. So now the question isn’t just: “Why am I feeling like this?” The real question is: When did I stop paying attention to Jesus? This message walks through 5 things losing awareness of Jesus will teach you: • why proximity isn’t intimacy • how routine can replace relationship • why you have to learn to linger • how devotion can go stale without you realizing it • and why anxiety might be revealing a gap you haven’t addressed You don’t need a new feeling. You need a realignment. Watch the message, share it with someone who needs it, and if you’re near Memphis, join us in the room.
