The new authorities at the Public Prosecutor's Office have championed the implementation of certification, evaluation, and institutional strengthening processes in key departments such as the Directorate for Combating Drug Trafficking (DLCN) and the Technical Agency for Criminal Investigation (ATIC), with the aim of bolstering public trust and improving the fight against organized crime and corruption. During public interviews, Directors Ever Mejía and Ángel Murillo Paz emphasized the importance of having personnel who are evaluated, trained, and subject to transparency standards, including background checks, certifications, and specialized training. They also affirmed that investigations must be conducted without regard to political or economic power or social influence, adhering to the principles of impartiality and the rule of law. For their part, representatives of civil society stated that the fight against impunity requires the commitment of all state institutions, including the Judiciary, the National Congress, and the Executive Branch.
