This system incorporates the use of three balanced sinusoidal waves, 120 degrees out of phase with each other, in order to balance the system, making it much more efficient compared to three isolated systems. Three-phase electrical machines tend to be more efficient due to the full utilization of magnetic circuits when working in this system. A phase sequence indicator, or phase meter, is a device used to indicate clockwise or counterclockwise rotation of phases. Using this device, it's possible to disconnect and reconnect a rotating load (motor) without risking reversing the rotation. Simply place the device on the three phases of the motor, note the color reference of the device's cables and the direction of rotation shown, take the same measurement at the location where the motor will be reinstalled, reinstall the motor, and measure again to verify that the direction of rotation is correct. This device does not indicate which phases are R, S, T. It only indicates the current direction of rotation so that this same direction of rotation can be maintained when the motor is installed in another location or on another power supply network.
