S4 E6 DJ Snagneto

Born April 12, 1976, in Fontana, California, Snagneto’s connection to Hip Hop began at an early age. At just eight years old, he was already learning from his older cousins who DJed house parties. Using an old Emerson stereo, he taught himself the fundamentals of scratching, cutting, and creating rhythms, eventually combining keyboard drums, samples, and hand spun stabs to create his own homemade tapes. These early experiments became the foundation of a lifelong musical journey. In 1987, during a middle school baggin’ session, someone yelled, “Fugg you, Snaggletooth!” giving him the name he had been searching for. The name eventually became simply “Snag.” After DJing a Halloween party in 1989, he discovered his passion for rocking crowds. His father bought him his first setup, initially hoping to keep him home and out of trouble, but after seeing the demand for Snag’s skills, his mother became a strong supporter of his musical ambitions. While recording demos with friends, Snag discovered another side of his artistry: the microphone. Encouraged by a friend who recognized his voice and potential, he began developing his skills as an MC while continuing to DJ and produce. In 1992, Snag connected with Blest One and Jim List, and the three eventually formed the group Antibiotics. They released their debut independent album, The Anti-ology, in 1996, followed by their involvement in Max One’s The Co-Lab Series in 1998 and their EP, Finally, They Put Out a Friggin’ EP, in 1999. Known for their originality, chemistry, and energetic approach, Antibiotics became a respected name in the underground Hip Hop scene. Their innovative style led many to compare them to the creative spirit of groups like the Beastie Boys. After the members of Antibiotics pursued different paths, Snag returned to his original goal of building a solo career. Continuing to DJ, produce, and collaborate with fellow producer BDR, he has released seven solo albums between 2011 and 2025: Hometown Zero How Villah Got His Groove Back Funrazor Lambros Earbangs Don’t Ever Fuggin’ Paint Me Bro #Tiosnaglovesyou Now at 50 years old, with #Tiosnaglovesyoutoo in progress, Snagneto continues his mission of inspiring artists to keep creating regardless of age or expectations. In a culture where many artists step away over time, Snag remains committed to proving that passion, creativity, and love for Hip Hop never expire.
