🔬 Beginner's Microscope buying Woes - and my Opinion | Amateur Microscopy
Here is a short summary of a somewhat longer video: 1. Whether a microscope is made in China or not is alone no quality criterion (anymore). 2. A particular brand says not much about the specific quality of a microscope. Some brands have very basic/cheap to advanced microscopes (it depends more on the microscope than on the brand). 3. Buying a refurbished microscope from a dealer who does a quality check is a possibility to consider. 4. Buying a used microscope without a person doing a quality check can be risky. Unless you are the person doing that. 5. Maybe not invest too much at the beginning until you know what direction you want to go later. 6. Hardware checks are not always meaningful or necessary in microscopes. 7. Most microscope optics in the introductory range microscopes are similar. 8. The best microscope is the one that you will use most often. 9. If you have the money, investing in a trinocular microscope is a good idea as it makes taking pictures much easier. 10. Whether a microscope is good or bad also depends on one's own expectations. Links to other related videos: Unpacking a Leica Microscope: • 🔬 012 - What do you get when you buy a mic...
