Transnet Engineering’s African Strategy
In this interview with Transnet Engineering’s (TE), CEO - Ralph Mills, we talk about their African strategy, which looks beyond just once off tender opportunities. Their focus is on the maintenance and refurbishment of older rolling stock, which will ease the capital burden associated with buying new. We touch on the development progress to date for the standard gauge bogie. Progress on the Trans Africa Locomotive (TAL) project and the lessons learnt, which will add value to the rebuild programme of older rolling stock to “as new” condition. Alternative propulsion systems are on the agenda and Ralph provides a brief outline of their intentions. In terms of the organization restructuring process - Ralph has been at the helm for the last 18 months, the business has been restructured into manageable and measurable business units, aligning with Transnet Freight Rail’s (TFR) corridor strategy. Manufacturing has been completely separated, these centres are now manufacturing plants, creating multipurpose production lines to enhance productivity and efficiency. #transnet #engineering #rail + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + RAILWAYS AFRICA MAGAZINE Subscribe: https://www.railways.africa/subscript...
