I Walked the Entire Ong Ang Canal | Bangkok’s Most Underrated Walk 🇹🇭 Street Food, Art & History Join me as I walk the entire length of Bangkok’s Ong Ang Canal, one of the city’s most fascinating urban walks, from its southern end at the Chao Phraya River all the way to where it meets Khlong Bang Lamphu near Mahakan Fort. The day starts with breakfast at Zaffran Eatery, where I try their egg biryani before stopping at Tikky Smoothie for what might just be the best fresh fruit frappé in Thailand. From there I follow the canal north, exploring colourful street art, including famous murals by Alex Face, discovering local life along the water, and stopping for one of Bangkok’s best street food snacks crispy Bajia. As the canal becomes quieter, I continue towards Wat Saket (the Golden Mount), before enjoying lunch at Gang Liang Heng Noodle Shop (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวรสเด็ด กังเลี่ยงเฮง), a long-established local restaurant serving delicious slow-stewed pork noodles. The walk finishes through the peaceful Mahakan Fort Park before reaching the northern end of Ong Ang Canal, where it connects with Khlong Bang Lamphu.
