Bowfin fishing in BOWFIN HEAVEN (How to fish for bowfin)

This place is the MECCA of all bowfin honey holes and we snuck in to see what it was all about! (Plus: how to catch bowfin) Preface: this vid was super short notice and we only had one camera with us, so that's why a lot of the action isn't on camera. But regardless, this place was UNREAL. Our buddy James got us on one of the most unique and ridiculous fisheries we've ever seen. With water falling out of an old pond/swamp, the bait fish and HUGE bowfin (and bass) were swimming around in inches of water, eager to bust on anything that swam by. Watch as we go to work targeting them on spinnerbaits. We also share a few tips and tricks on how to catch bowfin (watch til the end). Last note, bowfin are often mistaken as snakeheads or otherwise thought of as trash fish by many anglers. We need to learn to appreciate these fish more as they've lived in North America for millions of years and have changed little since the dinosaurs. Bowfin are definitely not invasive. They are living, native fossils! They also put up a great fight and should be respected as a premiere sport fish, just like bass, pike, muskie, etc. So think twice before tossing one of these on the bank and count your blessings when you accidently catch a bowfin while bass fishing!
