The scent of espresso and blooming jasmine from sidewalk cafes mingles with an imagined breath of salt and pine carried on this coastal air. It’s in these moments that the vibrant, chaotic heart of Albania’s capital seems to pause, exhale, and remember its connection to the water—a memory of Durrës's sandy shores and the gentle lapping of waves against ancient harbors. This "coastal haze" is more than a meteorological phenomenon; it’s a feeling of suspended animation, a dreamy interlude where the urban energy of Tirana melds with the serene, sun-drenched languor of the nearby coast. It’s the time of day when conversations drift, motorbikes seem to hum rather than roar, and the mountains in the distance hold the last of the sun’s gold. "Tirana Coastal Haze" is my sonic capture of this beautiful, blurry intersection. I composed this track with the memory of sitting at a Skanderbeg Square terrace, watching the light turn thick and honeyed through the haze. The music is built on warm, undulating basslines that feel like heat rising from sun-baked pavement. The percussion is soft and shaker-like, reminiscent of slow-moving fans and distant, lazy rhythms. Layered, sun-bleached synth melodies drift in and out like fragments of radio songs carried on the breeze, while atmospheric pads expand like the sky itself, vast and tinged with the promise of a coastal evening.
