The nostalgia series resumes... This video shows scenes from the "1940 Experimental Television Broadcast." In May 1939, NHK conducted Japan's first public television experiment. After a hiatus due to the war, the first postwar public experiment took place in 1948, and full-scale broadcasting finally began on February 1, 1953. In August of the same year, the commercial broadcaster Nippon Television Network also began full-scale broadcasting. Street TVs were set up in entertainment districts, train stations, parks, and other locations, and crowds enthusiastically watched professional wrestling, boxing, and other shows.
