Traffic - Moonchild Vulcan {Wood's Bolero} (Live 1974, L'Olympia, Paris, France, March 25)
John Michell, one of Master Wood's heroes, was an esotericist, a major figure in the development of the "Earth's Mysteries" Movement... He has written several controversial and super interesting books... Ley Lines, was one of those counter-culture ideas Michell adopted in his writing, where these linear marks connected various legendary historic landmarks to one and other, serving (in theory) as a guide to Alien Spacecrafts... Michell was definitely part of this pseudo-Archaeology and pseudo-Science perspective... He was also very much into crop circles... Goes without saying, "Roll Right Stones" is one of those ICONIC landmarks amongst many in the UK... Funny enough, upon my personal visit to the Roll Rights, there was an individual doing some measurements with some gadgets... surely another Ley Hunter... :) Master Wood and Traffic were very much influenced by the concept of Ley Lines... As many of us know very well, he was the one, who was into Ancient Maps, Chinese Classical Music, Ancient English Folk tales/songs and the like... I can only assume that Michell & Master Wood knew each other personally. Mitchell was actually present, in the audience, at the Legendary Glastonbury Festival in 1971... As many of you know, there is known footage of Traffic on stage within the WOODEN FRAMED PYRAMID... So far, we only have the one video of them performing "Gimme Some Lovin" with Master Mason to boot... This version of "Moonchild Vulcan" is the only known recording from the Paris gig that I know of. It is certainly part of the early 1974 recordings, and possible one of the very first time the composition was introduced to the fans. Master Winwood is on some super funky Guitar... (For clear differences between versions, please see my previous release from 2015 which was recorded about 6 weeks later... • Traffic - Moonchild Vulcan, feat. Reebop (... ) Enjoy Loud...
