Access Matters Aotearoa Parliamentary Event & Launch of 'Kōrero for Change Insights and Actions'

This parliamentary reception, co-hosted by Joseph Mooney MP and Jenny Marcroft MP, will launch the 'Kōrero for Change Insights and Actions'. The event will feature a panel discussion reflecting on outcomes from the Accessible Futures Summit, highlighting key insights, a shared sense of urgency, and practical steps to drive meaningful change. The reception will bring together disability community leaders, academics, decision-makers, advocates, and individuals with lived experience to connect and engage. Why this Parliamentary event matters • Inaccessibility costs New Zealand billions annually in lost productivity, health and social system pressures, and barriers to education and employment. • At least 17% of our population is disabled, with higher rates among Māori, Pacific peoples, women, and Rainbow and takatāpui communities. • Accessibility is not a minority issue – it is an economic, social, and national opportunity to harness the talents of all New Zealanders.
