Raposa Serra do Sol e do Vento | Floresta Iluminada

Cruviana is the first wind energy generation project on Indigenous land in Brazil, and it's one step away from being implemented by the Federal Government's "Light for All" Program. The initiative takes place in Raposa Serra do Sol (RR), the land of origin of the first Indigenous federal deputy in Brazilian history, Joênia Wapichana (Rede-RR). According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), at least 500,000 families in Brazil are still not served by electricity distributors. Of this total, 70% are in the Amazon. Millions of people are seeking electricity to guarantee education, transportation, health, work, and communication. "Illuminated Forest - Clean Energy for the Peoples of the Amazon," a three-episode web series, travels through Amazonian territories that are overcoming their need for electricity, facing dependence on expensive and polluting diesel, and taking advantage of opportunities to be supplied by alternative clean energy.
