A variety of roads from different eras can be found at the famous Hartside Pass on the North Pennines. But are any of them Roman? In this film we explore one contender, proposed years ago by Alan Richardson, but seemingly now forgotten. As well as exhibiting some Roman characteristics there's an intriguing bridge, which Alan proposed stood on Roman foundations. Naturally we'll take a look at the bridge, but has it been renovated beyond recognition? And what has all this got to do with Rory Stewart?
