Over the past 40 years, IVF has progressed significantly, achieving much higher success rates and fewer complications. We’ve come a long way in identifying the causes of IVF failure and developing strategies to address them. Pregnancy rates per embryo transfer have increased dramatically—from just 15–25% in the early days to over 70% today in many centers. This improvement has allowed us to transfer fewer embryos while striving to select the single most suitable embryo, reducing the risk of complications associated with multiple pregnancies. Despite the availability of advanced technologies such as PGT-A, endometrial receptivity testing, and microbiome analysis, we are still far from achieving a 100% success rate. This continuing gap offers us both a challenge and an opportunity—to further refine our understanding and improve patient outcomes.
