Even before entering, we were surrounded by stalls lining the streets, their calls echoing throughout. A dazzling array of local snacks, fresh fruits and vegetables, and groceries filled the air, creating a lively, bustling atmosphere. Stepping inside the market, a completely different scene unfolded, dedicated to fresh seafood. Clean stone counters were piled high with freshly caught seafood, the aroma of meat mingling with the scent of the sea. We were overwhelmed by the choices at the seafood stalls, but ultimately made a successful purchase: tender stingrays, delicious threadfin bream, plump prawns, and incredibly tempting redfin bream heads, ready to cook a seafood feast at home. Afterwards, we also picked up some fresh beef. This was more than just a simple grocery shopping trip; it was a heartwarming immersive experience of Penang's century-old history and authentic lifestyle. Moving inside, the market transitioned into a lively haven for fresh meat and seafood. The stalls were neatly lined with the catch of the day. We were absolutely spoiled for choice and ended up with a fantastic haul: tender stingray (devil fish), flavorful threadfin (Ma Yau), plump prawns, and a massive red fin fish head perfect for a rich curry. To top it off, we also picked up some premium fresh beef.
