Kind Indonesian Men Won’t Accept Payment in Jakarta🇮🇩 Today, we are exploring Jakarta’s Old Port/Harbour. This is an area of Jakarta people have told us NOT to go, so we decided to visit to see what it’s really like. What we found was the KINDEST people I think we might have ever met. From the beginning we were welcomed, smiled at, given time to speak and converse with the local fisherman and craftsmen of North Jakarta. What began as a trip to explore the dock, the ships and the Jakarta Bay which is under threat from sinking, turned out to be an enjoyable walk through the harbour experiencing pure Indonesian hospitality, something which has left us eternally grateful and glad we ventured to a place that people told us not to visit as there’s “nothing to do”. Well yes, there may not be anything to “do” but it’s the people that made our afternoon at the harbour, the kindest people we have met on this trip. Yes, the water was polluted and quite a lot of trash on the streets, but this didn't deter us to give the area a chance to really shine. We really hope this area can just improve so in the future we can return and relive this wonderful day.
