A glass plate of length l=d_2 causes a local decrease in the water depth. (Any reflection is ignored.) 1-a) Determine the wavelengths λ_1 and λ_2, given that d_1=2 cm and d_2=3 cm. (1pt) b) Calculate the velocity V_2 of the wave above the plate. Justify the calculation. (1pt) c) Knowing that the velocity of a wave on the surface of shallow water is V=√gh with h the water depth. Determine the depths h_1 and h_2 and deduce the thickness e of the glass plate. Given g=10N/kg. (0.75pt) d) Determine the delay τ of the motion of point M relative to point O. (0.75pt) 2. The wave arrives at the center (3) and encounters a fixed obstacle with an opening of width a. a) What condition must this opening satisfy for the plane wave to transform into a circular wave? (0.25pt) b) What phenomenon is observed after crossing the opening if the previous condition is satisfied. (0.25pt) c) Draw two wrinkles in region (4). Justify the line by specifying the frequency and wavelength in region (4).
