Max Romeo "Chase The Devil Blueprint" (Heartical Sound Dubplate)

#maxromeo #chasethedevil #heartical #dubplate #leescratchperry Listen to the legendary Jamaican singer Max Romeo's first dubplate cut ever of his worldwide hit "I Chase The Devil", recorded for Heartical in 2003 in Paris (France). This special has an amazing background story : the original version of the song came out in 1976 on the album" War Ina Babylon", produced by the great late Lee Scratch Perry. The clean riddim was never released at the time, so for years it was impossible for Max Romeo to voice this specific dubplate on the original instrumental. Fast forward to 2003, when Heartical got hold of a unique rebuilt riddim of "Chase The Devil", sampling the original version, created by Stefan from Such A Sound. Of course, we immediatley brought the riddim to Max Romeo when we organized a dubplate session for him in Paris, he was truly happy to finally voice a proper dubplate of his international trademark hit, which quickly became one of Heartical's anthem. After this historical session, Max requested a copy of the riddim for himself, which we gladly gave him. Max used the riddim for his dubplate sessions, and later on, he even officially released it as the B-Side of his repress of "Chase the devil" on his own Charmax Label. This enabled a lot of people to get access to the riddim, which is now commonly used for dubplate recordings by sound systems all over the world, yet this is and will forever be an Heartical blueprint.
