The BMP-2M Berezhok is a major modernization of the Soviet BMP-2, developed in the late 1990s by the Tula Instrument Design Bureau. Instead of creating a new vehicle, engineers focused on radically enhancing the firepower of a proven platform. The Berezhok system received a modern combat module with a 2A42 automatic cannon, four Kornet ATGMs, an AG-30M automatic grenade launcher, a modern thermal imaging sight, and a new fire control system. This armament suite makes the BMP-2M one of the most powerful infantry fighting vehicles of its generation and remains relevant in modern armed conflicts.
