SMU Chamber Choir - The Rose (Ola Gjeilo)

Artistic Director: Ms. Jennifer Tham Conductor: Mr. Kenny Khoo An excerpt from Wrinkles in The Air XII: A Bouquet of Songs ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Singapore Management University Chamber Choir (SMUCC) was formed by five enthusiastic choristers who were invited to represent SMU in the Singapore Chorus of Russian composer Vladimir Martynov’' s ‘SINGAPORE’ Symphony, held at the Esplanade Concert Hall. The Singapore premiere was graced by former President S.R. Nathan and the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew. Since its commencement, the Choir has grown in strength and is one of the most prestigious arts clubs in SMU, having been inducted into the University ' s Arts Excellence Programme. With its young and vibrant group of music-makers, the Choir continues to advance in its journey towards music excellence. The Choir celebrated its first anniversary in May 2008 by participating in the 4th International Choir Festival — Mundus Cantat Sopot, clinching 2 Silver Diplomas in the Sacred and Folk categories. Over the years, the Choir has travelled to several locations including St Petersburg, Czech Republic, Poland and Austria, to compete in music festivals where it has received many Gold and Silver awards. More recently, the Choir received awards in Singapore International Choral Festival for 2017 and 2018, winning silver awards in the Sacral category in the first year, and Sacral and Folksong categories in the second. In addition to overseas tours, competitions, school exchanges and its annual production — Wrinkles in The Air, the Choir also performs frequently at various school events, community outreach programmes and carolling projects.
