Katherine Healy at 14 & Marin Boieru Nutcracker Grand Pas de Deux Sugarplum 1983 ballet performance
Here are Marin Boieru and myself as the guest artists in Ruth Page's Nutcracker in Chicago, December 16, 1983. I was 14 years old here, and had just switched to dancing the Balanchine version in the adage for the first time on this night. We decided that it was best for me to be the one to switch because Marin was concurrently performing the Balanchine version with Pennsylvania Ballet. I got better at it later, and I actually have a note to myself on this film that there are later shows that were better, so when I find those, I will put them up as well. Marin, however, was pretty spectacular here. Stephanie Saland coached me for this and I was so lucky to work with her. THAT IS TOM GOLD❤❤❤❤ AS THE PRINCE SITTING UP ON THE THRONE BEHIND US I was so focused on putting up Marin that I didn't even look at myself or anything else in this video. Tom later had a long and wonderful career with New York City Ballet, and now choreographs and heads his own group, Tom Gold Dance, In New York City. We were training partners with Willy Burmann in later years when I came back to the United States.
