PTA Subway: "REMODELED" R42 Train “Testing” In-Passenger Service on Callaghan & Madison Avenue!

Taken on June 5th, 2026 Here we see the "Remodeled" R42 Train undergoing admin testing "in passenger service" along the (N) Line in Callaghan/Madison Avenue. This newly remodeled train will also replace the older models on 5th Avenue. Once testing on all remodeled trains is completed, all older models will be retired, allowing the R40S/M and R42 trains to be fully operational for the public. As said before, the R42 will continue to operate on 5th Avenue, while both R40 models will be assigned to different routes. The R40S will serve both 5th Avenue and Callaghan/Madison Avenue lines, while the R40M will be moved to Callaghan. Let’s enjoy these new remodeled trains as we prepare to bid farewell to the older models soon!
