Making of Turkmen dotar
ساز بيله صحبتي يامان دييمأنگلر آدام حوّا دنيأ ايننده باردير Translation: Don't deny the instruments and vocals which goes back to the time of the creation of Adam and Eve To be precise, the wordDotar is actually a combination of two words tut and tar. In fact, two strings are made of mulberry wood and are connected to that string. For this reason, our predecessors used the term "Tutar" for it, and over time, this term has been formed and preserved in public conversations. As musicians recall and musicologists believe, later changes were made to the shape of the notes on two strings. Dotar is known as a national instrument not only among Turkmen people, but also among Uzbeks, Tajiks, Kyrgyz, Karakalpaks. Regardless of the fact that it is mentioned among different ethnic groups under the names of Dombra, Komoz, Tambur, Chonggur and the like. But all these names are actually from the Dotar family and are related to each other. Although the word dotar is widely used among us Turkmens, this is not the only name given to it. In the language of some Turkmen tribes and tribes (in the dialect of the Yum tribe), the term "Tamdira" means two strings is widely used. Words like "Tamdira", "Tamdirachi" are actually synonyms of the words "Dotar" and "Dotarchi" in our literary language. But how did the term "Tamdira" come about? In this regard, there are two views: the first view means this term as "something that is cooked in an oven". TheDotar maker first lays the pieces of mulberry wood cut in the shade in order to make dotar, then dries it in the steam and heat of the "Tamdeer" oven. That's why Dotar is called "Tamdira". The second point of view expresses the sound that arises from it. Kazakh and Kyrgyz people call their national instrument, which is similar to theTurkmen dotar, "dombra". It seems that this term is not used to explain how it is formed, but only to explain the type of song issued from this instrument. #turkmenmusic #turkmen duyar #turkmenfilm
