In Boca del Río, Veracruz, we continue the production campaign for self-consumption, which aims to unite wills and efforts to confront the challenge we currently face: inflation. We want families' incomes to go further, strengthening their purchasing power. We are going to rescue the countryside, to produce what we consume, and to achieve food self-sufficiency. The greatest impact of inflation in Mexico is felt in food, so the federal government is taking measures aimed at reducing the effects of this global phenomenon on the economy of Mexican families, especially those with fewer resources. For example, an agreement was reached with large food companies to prevent price increases on 24 basic food items so that people pay a fair price for them. Another measure is the elimination of tariffs, which will allow countries like Belize to sell food in Mexico. The Undersecretary of Productive Inclusion and Rural Development of the Ministry of Welfare, Hugo Raúl Paulín Hernández, explained that the objective of the production event in Veracruz reaffirms the federal government's commitment to Mexican agriculture and is part of the actions of the Plan against Inflation and the High Cost of Living, which was presented in recent days. He reported that the Sembrando Vida (Sowing Life) and Producción para el Bienestar (Production for Well-being) programs are tasked with increasing corn production by up to 2.5 million tons and an additional 50,000 tons of beans. Both federal government initiatives will receive technical assistance and direct support to boost agricultural production. Furthermore, the commitment to producing organic fertilizers remains in place: 1.5 million tons of solid fertilizers and 36 million tons of liquid fertilizers. This meeting was attended by 3,200 technicians, agronomists, and extension agents from the Ministries of Welfare, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Environment, as well as from state and national institutions.
