1972 Circuit of Donegal International Rally
Following on from the successful Rally of the Rosses in 1971, Donegal Motor Club stepped up to international status in 1972 with the running of the Circuit of Donegal International Rally under the guidance of Clerk of the Course Austin Frazer. 119 starters left the Rossapenna Hotel in Downings with Cathal Curley and Peter Scott racing into an early lead in their lightweight BMW 2002 Ti built by Donald McEnaney. Curley successfully fought off the challenges of Adrian Boyd and Billy Coleman over the 33 stage event to take the win.
