June Cottage Rose Garden Tour, Central Florida

This is a cottage rose garden in Central Florida zone 9B, created one year ago. Throughout the year, I did add new roses, and planted several climbing roses up the rose alley. This garden was made on top of a lawn, with composted horse manure, and Peat Moss. I also amended the soil with oak leaves and topped it off with crushed pine bark. Check out my other videos on how this garden was made. Many of the roses in this garden are grafted onto a Fortuniana rootstock and planted directly in the ground. This root stock helps with the nematodes that are in Florida soils. Antique varieties and some own root varieties will also grow in Florida soils.   Below is a list vendors that I purchased my roses from. K and M Roses: sells own root varieties. Roses are small, but healthy and relatively inexpensive. David Austin roses: this is where I purchased my bare root, David Austin’s from. Antique Rose Emporium: This company sells many of my antique roses that grow great in the ground. Heirloom Roses: Another great place to get roses from. Jackson and Perkins: Great place to get standard rose trees. Often has really great deals at the end of the season. Sells unique roses as well.
