Known for its grandiose architecture, incredibly clean tree-lined avenues, and massive green parks, Dushanbe is a visual masterpiece. Join me on a dynamic, 26-minute walking tour on a very hot and sunny summer day. We begin our stroll on Bukhoro Street, making our way to the famous Rudaki Avenue, the beautiful main artery of the city. The highlight of our walk begins as we approach the majestic Ismoil Somoni Monument (the iconic symbol of Tajikistan with its golden crown). From there, we explore the vast squares, walking towards the towering Independence Monument (Istiqlol) and taking a peaceful stroll through the lush and beautiful Rudaki Park. We greet the statue of the great poet Rudaki before exiting through the east gate, where we catch a stunning view of the massive new Parliament and Government Complex (nearing completion during this visit!).
