Along with Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Choi Hwi-young, Park Ji-sung, a member of the FIFA subcommittee who retired from active play in 2014, will participate as a co-chair of the Innovation Committee. In addition, football figures such as commentators Lee Young-pyo and Park Joo-ho, as well as sports community figures and experts including Korean Olympic Committee President Yoo Seong-min, Korea Football Association Executive Director Kim Seung-hee, and K League Secretary General Cho Yeon-sang, have also been named. Previously, Minister Choi stated on social media that he would conduct a special audit of the Korea Football Association to accurately determine the root causes of the country's disastrous football failure. At the time, he warned that he would form an investigative committee including external experts to uncover the Association's various incompetence, negligence, irregularities, and misconduct, and hold them strictly accountable. With the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism playing a major "innovation card" by even activating a committee, former national team coach Hong Myung-bo, who is currently at the center of controversy, has suddenly departed for the United States.
