President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. put a premium on the role of women in nation building and the need for reforms to break barriers that women still faced in modern times. Marcos delivered the statement Tuesday (March 10, Manila time) at the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, the United Nations' largest annual forum on gender equality. In his speech before delegates at the UN headquarters in New York as part of his working visit, the President said the status of women was "one of the most fundamental measures of a nation’s progress."
