Wandern in Chamonix Mont Blanc (Lac Blanc, Mer de Glace, Aguille du Midi, Le Brévent)
I liked Chamonix very much. It reminds me a bit of a French version of Zermatt. Unfortunately, the prices are also similar. But it is a great feeling to stand at the foot of the highest mountain in the Alps and see how the glacier "des Bossons" seems to almost reach the town. On the first day, I arrived in Chamonix in the afternoon after a wonderful train ride. So first there was a short hike from the Brévent mountain down to the Grand Balcon Sud. The gondola ride is already spectacular, as the terminal is placed directly on the top of the steep rock. The distance was about 3 kilometres with 470 metres of descent, which takes about 1.5 hours. On the second day, there was the classic "Hike to Lac Blanc", probably the most famous hike in the region. I chose a nice circular route that should take about 4 hours to hike. As you can see from the photos, the popularity means that a large number of hikers can be expected. Although I'm not a fan of it, I really enjoyed it and would definitely do this loop again and also highly recommend it. The distance was about 8.5 kilometres with 530 metres of ascent and descent, which takes about 4 hours. On the last day, we took the mountain railway from Chamonix up to the viewpoint of the longest glacier in France, the "Mer de Glace". A beautiful sight, but also a bit sad when you see the old pictures of this once enormous glacier. From there, the hike starts along the Grand Balcon Nord to the middle station of the cable car to the Aguille du Midi. There I completed the hike with the gondola ride up to the platform. Just the gondola ride itself is an amazing experience. Dizzying views of the glaciers reveal themselves and at the end you glide up close to the rocks of the Aguille du Midi. The views up there are spectacular. Mont Blanc is within reach and you can watch many mountaineers. Just looking at it made me dizzy. The distance was about 6 kilometres with 450 metres of ascent and 50 metres of descent, which takes about 2.5 hours. Tour Lac Blanc: https://www.komoot.de/tour/864982415?...
