One-Of-A-Kind Natural Building Paradise In Japan | Full Site Tour
This gorgeous place in the mountains of rural Japan is a natural building paradise. Natural building techniques are used everywhere, including in the renovation of the abandoned old house (Kominka), the building of a new timber frame house, stonewalls, and a tree house. One of the founders of Kamimomi Permaculture Center, Kyle Holzhueter, takes us on a tour of the various natural buildings and techniques used on site to breathe new life into this abandoned Japanese Homestead in the mountains of Okayama. If you're interested in building with natural materials such as local timber, earth, bamboo and straw, this video is for you! Kyle touches on many different aspects of natural buildings, including ceiling finishes, earth plasters, sgraffito, shikkui, straw bales, light straw clay, earthbags, insulation techniques such as rice husk lime and living roofs!
