STILL HUMAN (2026)

NEVER FORGET WHERE ALL JUST HUMAN DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT I created Still Human to explore guilt, judgment, and the human need to be seen. In a world that often defines people by their worst mistake, I wanted to examine what happens when someone loses not only their reputation, but also their sense of belonging. The film follows a man living on the margins of society, rejected by the world around him and haunted by his past. Rather than focusing on what he did, I was interested in exploring the emotional consequences of isolation and the struggle to find humanity when no one is willing to acknowledge it. Visually, I approached Still Human as a quiet character study, relying more on atmosphere, framing, and performance than on dialogue. Through John's journey, I hope audiences reflect on compassion, accountability, and the complexity of human beings. At its core, "Still Human" asks a simple question: Can a person still find peace when the world refuses to see them as more than their worst moment? — Kymani Phillips Writer, Director & Cinematographer CAST Jon Alberon Monauar Lutfi Joseph Schwartz Braelen Batiste Naomi Garza Elia Washington Bonnie Taylor WRITTEN & DIRECTED BY Kymani Phillips EDITED BY Arpad Sarvari DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY Kymani Phillips COLOR BY Kymani Phillips PRODUCTION DESIGNER Lasheeka Welch 1ST ASSISTANT DIRECTOR Derrell Johnson 2ND ASSISTANT DIRECTOR Braelen Batiste GAFFER Christopher Kathman KEY GRIP Marcus Mather CAMERA OPERATOR Mubbi Mubashir 1ST ASSISTANT CAMERA Avalon Thunstorm Gray Gaeta 2ND ASSISTANT CAMERA Erin Roche Ronald Trigueros RE-RECORDING MIXER Stefon Bergeron MUSIC BY Stefon Bergeron BEST BOY GRIP Luis Arreola GRIP Johnny Baker SCRIPT SUPERVISOR / CONTINUITY Naomi Garza ASSISTANT EDITOR Kymani Phillips FINAL CUT & CREATIVE FINISHING Kymani Phillips SPECIAL THANKS Swole Productions LLC Genre: Psychological Drama / Thriller #StillHuman #ShortFilm #PsychologicalThriller #PsychologicalDrama #IndependentFilm #StudentFilm #SonyFX6 #Filmmaking #Cinematography #MentalHealth #Drama #IndieFilm #FilmFestival #NarrativeFilm
