Living in Anticipation for the "Revelation of Jesus": James - Peter

This week we are studying James, 1st Peter, and 2nd Peter. Together these clarify what active faith is and how they were encouraged in their faith that Jesus would return and rescue them. James focuses on the patience needed, urging Christians to stand firm and establish their hearts because the coming of the Lord is near, like a farmer waiting patiently for the harvest. 1st Peter provides hope during times of trouble, reminding believers that their current trials are only temporary and will result in praise, glory, and honor when Jesus is finally revealed to the world. 2nd Peter addresses the timing of the end, explaining that while some people mock the delay, God is actually being patient to give everyone a chance to repent (turn from their way to Him) before the day of the Lord arrives like a thief. Together, these three letters show that waiting for Jesus' second coming is not escapism or passive; instead, it should cause us to live holy lives, endure hard times, and actively do good works right now because we believe God will do what He promised.
