The Titanic wreck lies at a depth of approximately 3,800 meters. Furthermore, experts believe the oxygen supply on board the submersible will only last until Thursday morning. Doubts about the safety of the Titan are also growing. "We fear that OceanGate's current experimental approach could lead to negative results (ranging from minor to catastrophic)," the New York Times quoted from a 2018 letter from submersible industry executives. The letter called on OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush to have the Titan tested independently.
